Gateway is an interactive reading app based on a real, declassified U.S. government document — "Analysis and Assessment of Gateway Process" (CIA-RDP96-00788R001700210016-5, 1983). The app restructures the document into 13 tappable files with a guided progression system.
The app includes a real-time audio synthesizer that generates two slightly different sine wave frequencies — one in each ear. Your brain perceives the difference as a pulsing "beat" and your brainwave output naturally drifts toward that frequency. This is the core mechanism described in the document. Stereo headphones are required — the effect does not work with speakers.
Open and read every file in a stage to complete it. Completing a stage unlocks the next one. The Gateway Process builds on itself, so the app enforces reading in order. You can always go back and re-read earlier files.
No. Gateway makes zero network requests, has no analytics, no accounts, and no tracking. Your reading progress is stored locally on your device and deleted when you uninstall. See our privacy policy for full details.
Open the app → About tab → scroll to the bottom → tap "Clear All Saved Data." This removes your bookmarks and reading progress. You can also uninstall and reinstall the app.
No. Gateway presents the content of a historical government document. The app does not make medical claims or offer therapeutic advice. The binaural beat generator is an audio tool. If you have concerns about your health, consult a qualified professional.
Gateway requires iOS 17 or later and runs on iPhone and iPad. The binaural audio feature requires stereo headphones for the intended effect.
